If you needed convincing of the power and worth of social media, then Kellogg’s new shop makes for a pretty good argument!
The FIRST EVER pay-by-tweet shop has opened in London this week, and it sells…crisps. To launch their new Special K snacks, Kellogg’s have gone all out and opened their first retail space in stylish Soho, London.
To purchase a bag of the low calorie crisps all you have to do is use the hashtag #tweetshop – for tweeters it really couldn’t be simpler. For those who haven’t yet embraced the world of twitter, this may be the encouragement they need.
Sarah Case from Special K comments: “The value of positive endorsements on social media sites is beyond compare so we’re excited to be the first company to literally use social currency instead of financial currency to launch this new product in our bespoke Special K shop.”
In short this is simply a remarkably brave and probably pricey advertising campaign, but if a global organisation trusts the influence of Twitter this much, then we’re convinced.
Check out our social media bolt ons for our Twitter services, or just be brave and give it a go – you could just get some free crisps out of it
